Over the past decade, Urban Descent has run adventure-based fundraising events across Australia. Founded in Western Australia, Urban Descent evolved from the ‘Allendale Abseil’ event held November 2002. The event saw 100 participants raise over $100,000 for charities by completing their 135m descent down the face of the Allendale Square Building in the heart of Perth. Since this successful event, Urban Descent has spread out across Australia, providing countless opportunities for individuals, corporate teams and schools to raise funds for charities.
The event, which has been run under a variety of names, has won three FIA awards for excellence in fundraising in their special events category in 2005, 2011 and again in 2012. In October of 2012, Urban Descent took home the International Fundraising Congress Award for excellence in running a low-budget fundraising event.
We just finished holding this year's Abseil for Youth, an event run with the Sir David Martin Foundation in Sydney. So far we've raised almost $330,000 for troubled youths and hope we can still raise some more by the end of the fundraising period.
Save the Children and AO just ran a Bridge Swing Fundraising event, held over the 24-25th of October, the second time we have ever held a Bridge Swing Event! If you'd like to look at some photos, Save the Children has a facebook album.
Our last Urban Descent event of the year is the descent with the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation in Perth, from the Woodside Building.
