Morning rise in the gorge, a pre-dawn start in the Kimberley is a unique opportunity to behold, wake to the natural sounds of the Australian bush chorus coming to life, the changing morning light atop the cliff line, enjoy the refreshing coolness of the morning with a cup of billy tea, light blue smoke spirals upwards from the fire. With light backpack the climb up and out of the gorge system is not too challenging. Setting a moderate pace, we expect to arrive at Alligator by 11:00am in time to check the landing ground is clear and safe for the light aircraft arrival. On returning to Kununurra, it will be too late to catch any afternoon flights to Darwin, Broome, or Perth. Check into the local backpackers, enjoy taking that refreshing showers, fresh cloths, relax.
Later afternoon evening, as a group make for the local, enjoy a refreshment of your choice, recount stories of the trek over a meal.
