    History

I grew up in the Pilbara and Murchison regions, completing an apprenticeship and working as an automotive mechanic. In 1974 I joined the Australian Army and spent 10 out of 12 years of my service in the Special Air Service Regiment (SAS), completing this time as the Troop Sergeant and commandeer of an Air Mobility Troop within an Operational Squadron. During my service I was awarded a ‘Commendation for Bravery’.

I founded Adventure Out Australia in 1984 with the aim to share my knowledge and understanding of life and leadership through outdoor education. Since then, I have worked extensively with and for the community both in WA and in Papua New Guinea. I participated in the creation of an outdoor industry association, Outdoor WA, and served in various roles on the committee for over 15 years.

I believe strongly in civic responsibility. I have worked with many outstanding individuals and companies in the creation of charity fundraising events across Australia through our not-for-profit Urban Descent. As of 2021 we have assisted in raising $12 Million Dollars for various charities. In 2017 I was awarded the ‘Order of Australia Medal’ for my services to charity and the outdoor adventure tourism industry.

I started in the outdoor industry in my early 20s while traveling and working around Australia, and the French Alps. On returning to Perth, I worked in the building and construction industry I decided to make a change back to an industry that I was truly passionate about.

My career has involved project management of large commercial projects. Managing health and safety, budget, and tight timelines. After 7 years of running my own construction company, I decided to make my passion my profession. I now enjoy a good work life balance. I look forward to going to work and I come home happy.

    History

Growing up in the rural suburbs of Perth, I spent a lot of time outdoors exploring and developed a deep appreciation for native wildlife. When I’m not at Adventure Out, I like to volunteer for a local wildlife hospital, and am a big advocate for preserving our environment and sustainability.

I’m usually the first person to say “I’ll give it a go!” when presented with a challenge or new experience. I came to Adventure Out in 2020 with no experience in the Outdoor Education industry, just an eagerness to learn, and have since found myself an integral part of an amazing team – all who have taught me so much.

    I am passionate about

I am passionate about creating opportunities for others to experience new things and push themselves out of their comfort zones. I love my ability to empathise and connect with people and use it to encourage others to discover their own passions.
